The Tiger Forces and allies are about to liberate the Water Treatment & Pumping Station, near Rasm al Aboud village. These facilities supply water to Aleppo City and most of Aleppo Province. The water was cut off from Aleppo City for the past 2 months to force the Syrian Government to negotiate with ISIS. It did not work. The SAA continues to advance in Eastern Aleppo and has liberated close to 100 villages and sites since the initial moment of the offensive. (See Ziad’s coverage on March 4, 2017)
With the latest gains, the Tiger Forces and allies are now 4 kms away from the vital water treatment and pumping station and 3 kms from the important Jiraah Airbase. During the day of Sunday and Monday, 25 villages were liberated:
Rasm ad Dawali
Late on Sunday afternoon, the Tiger Forces and allies took control of the important Salmá mountain, which gives fire control over Safaa and Umm Arsum villages which are on the way to being liberated, leaving one village between the SAA and the main target of the water facilities complex by the Euphrates.
Reaching the Euphrates also means that ISIS terrorists would be trapped inside a large pocket with 35+ villages. Either they will have fled already by then or a few will be left to delay the SAA offensive. But, that won’t work either because the Tiger Forces and allies will certainly move toward Jiraah airbase on the double and leave the pocket to die out in time.
With the Water Treatment & Pumping Station facilities and the Jiraah airbase liberated and under control, the Tiger Forces and allies may shift attention to storm the Dayr Haafir Plains from the rear thus avoiding a heavily mined and strongly defended front line full of trenches and booby traps near this city; or to advance just 12 kms south from Jiraah airbase toward the important city of Maskana, the gateway to Tabqa airbase.

Latest news on Tuesday is that the Tiger Forces already reached the Water Treatment and Pumping Station while securing all villages between the SAA front line and SDF. ISIS is completely defeated in the Eastern Aleppo Province Pocket. Having said that, the Tiger Forces and allies are still fighting for the right side banks of the Euphrates. The large village of al Khafsah was liberated in this process, this is the most important village near the Euphrates.
It seems nothing will hold back the Tiger to storm Jirah airbase this Wednesday or Thursday.
The SAA’s 5th Corps and allies have controlled all areas surrounding the Palmyra airbase; liberated Waadi Al-Ahmar and advanced toward the grand silos with fierce battles reported at this site. The battle for the silos is key to building a stronger defensive line toward eastern Palmyra.
Early morning on Sunday, the complexes of Jazal oil & gas and mountain were liberated, a vital move to control the high Abyadh mountain chain and Waadi Dhakara, basically sealing the northern defensive line for Palmyra.
The very last news on Tuesday account for a major victory for the SAA at the Palmyra silos, the SAA and allies are now advancing toward the crossroad for Mustadira gasfield and Jabal al Mazar.
DAMASCUS – QABOUN POCKET
The Republican Guards (4th Division) is on the verge of liberating the strategic Qaboon/Tishreen pocket. The latest advances liberated Al Waawi Mosque and Al-Noor Driving School, giving a fire control over the remaining parts of the pocket. On top of that, many large and long tunnels were found and destroyed in Qaaboon’s Orchards which basically sealed the fate of the terrorists inside who are now operating without supplies and food.
