SYRPER’S ZIAD INTERVIEWED ON STAGGENBORG’S SHOW SATURDAY

Soldiers for Peace

We are delighted to report to our readers that Ziad will make his third appearance on Rick Staggenborg’s Soldiers for Peace radio program on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. EDT or 9:00 a.m. Pacific time.  The subject will be new developments in the Syrian front.  I will post the program once it’s over to let my readers listen to it.  I will be traveling today so don’t expect any long narratives until Sunday morning.

James Foley

The alleged execution of James Foley is beginning to look more and more like a hoax.  As I study the full tape of his “beheading” I see significant differences between the manifestations of severing his vital arteries and those of Paul Berg, the Pennsylvanian Jewish entrepreneur who traveled to post-war Iraq to make a killing and wound up being killed by Abu Mus’ab Al-Zarqaawi.  This tape of Foley gives me hope he is still alive. This Hollywood-style tape, as edited,  is being used by CIA to create this international furor in order to justify Obama’s idiotic foray into Syria to stop the massive advance of the SAA and its destruction of Nusra and ISIS.  Stay tuned.  It’s no different than Kerry’s Sarin gas fiasco.  (Read Penny’s article posted yesterday in SyrPer).

Sameeh Al-Qaassem

العلم السوري يتقدم تشييع جثمان الشاعر سميح القاسم في الرامة

The Syrian flag was prominent at the funeral of the great Druze Palestinian poet, Sameeh Al-Qaassem, yesterday in Al-Raama, Occupied Palestine.  He was a true nationalist.  It is a standing disgrace to his memory that the liar and traitor, Faysal Al-Qaassem, who regularly rants and raves on Al-Jazeera, is a relative of this great Palestinian Muwahhid patriot.

NEWS AND COMMENT:

If some of you still don’t believe Obama is an idiot and hypocrite, read this:

Canthama, i join you in your respect to Ziad. I don’t think anyone here in britain has heard of Ziad and i would like to make Ziad well known, but do have the personal means to enable this to be done. However, the advance of the murdering Jihadists (ISIS) has given more about the these terrorists and the Iraq situation and threat to Syria.
May God give strength to Syria and Bashar-al-Assad.

when you have a government and a media that has a track record of telling scandalous lies. you cannot blame people for being cynical about the foley case. it is the boy who cried wolf syndrome
. when you consider the motives involved eg the reinvasion of iraq, the overthrow of maliki and talk of ”chasing ” isis into syria as a consequence of the foley incident. it is obvious it could be fake. and not that crazy. it would be far ”crazier” to fully accept what a bunch of proven liars say

Nabila, I have seen your posts elsewhere and have found them to be thoughtful. But, with all due respect, the issue IS whether this young man died at the hands of ISIS. I took offense to the fact that there is the narrative circulating that James Foley’s death is a hoax. David, I love how you throw out numbers (2,000 scientists). Lets see the proof. In the meantime, it took me 30 seconds to find this explanation from an engineering STUDENT that explains how jet fuel can “melt” I beams. This is a response to the discussion carried out by many suggesting that the planes at the WTC couldn’t have brought the buildings down. I’m sorry for being so forward, but in my opinion this is a ridiculous discussion. I am a junior at an engineering-exclusive school studying materials engineering. Keepingh the border peaceful is nothing to do with the Assad family. The Assad family does not rule Syria. Syria is ruled by the Syrian people, much more democratically than is America.
In fact, the border is NOT peaceful, due to criminal support for terrorists by the Khazari Colony in occupied Golan, where wounded terrorists are tended by Zionist Mengeles.

No thanks. I will not be asking anyone to mumble mumbo-jumbo to their favourite invisible friend in the sky. Shinaydeen: Unless you, and your people, have more cash than Big Oil, the US ‘defense’ industry and the banksters combined, you won’t even get answer from politicians. They don’t care about Syria, but the do care about being re-elected, which costs money. If you don’t have it, they’ll get the ‘campaign funds’ from the creatures who do.

Shinaydeen

You are right. They care about being re-elected more than anything else. That is why they respond to public pressure if it is united and focussed enough.

The plan to regime-change the Syrian government was scuppered when the British House of Commons denied its government’s request to wage war on Syria. MPs of all parties responded to what they saw as a huge swell of public opinion against war on Syria.

It had nothing to do with money although I accept that in the US, successful lobbying may be impossible without vast sums of the filthy lucre.

Shinaydeen: The trick is getting Americans to unite on an issue truly worthy of pursuit. I’m sorry to say that I know nothing about the Syrian Global Army, but if they have a legislative function, perhaps they can do some good? They are established, though. There are several American veterans groups who want nothing to do with any foreign wars whatever, but I’ve no notion of their strength or the legislative mechanics of them, if any. Anyway, good luck, and best wishes for your enterprise going forward.

Leaving aside the question of ISIS, which is really a temporary phenomenon, relations between the US and Syria are determined by two things – Syria’s alliance with Russia, (going back decades to the Cold War) and even more importantly America’s support for Israel and Syria’s steadfast resistance to the Zionist state. I see that danger Chevi and I would not trust any of them either. But, in such a fluid situation, in a war as vastly complex as this one is, it is inevitable that some people, the more intelligent ones in establishment circles, realise that an alliance with Assad, for the purposes of defeating forces posing an existential threat to the West’s allies and interests, may be beneficial. That is an opportunity that should not be spurned by Assad and I am sure he will exploit all these divisions and contradictions within the western establishment to Syria’s advantage. This may… Read more »

Perhaps it is niave but I can see that all of Dannatt’s thought could work into a golden opportunity for President Assad. If othe people come around to see things as he apparently does, this could be a huge breakthrough for the lawful Government of Syria. I wonder if Ziad will touch on it. .

Whitehall has pooh-poohed the Dannatt idea. Apparently the good general spoke out of turn. One Hammond, Tory successor to Lord ‘Haw-Haw’ Hague, is toeing the line dictated to him by his Washington overlords.
As the advance of the heroic Syrian Arab Army continues, these NATO worms will twist and turn, showing they stand for nothing but terrorism, and intend nothing but Syria’s destruction.

It is disgusting that Russia has allowed a situation where the US can come through the back door and attack Syria under the pretext of fighting ‘ISIS barbarity’. Passing a resolution under chapter 7 which allows the US complete freedom to attack anywhere in the world without regard to sovereign borders shows the real face of Russia’s political elite and its subservience to US/Israeli policies, and this isn’t the first time they have unleashed NATO on disobedient countries. It is my view that the whole Arab Spring project was worked out between the capitals of London, Washington, Paris, Berlin, Moscow,… Read more »

People in high office routinely have a great number of items presented to them which require the official’s live signature for action. These officials get lax in their habits, and stop reading what they sign; a ‘ladder’ of documents are handed them on a clipboard (for instance), with only the closing (Sincerely yours, etc.) and the signature line. I could be very wrong, but I would bet that the American state department has already contacted Dr. Assad to feel him out on having some “guests” fly over his country. I am certain the Americans will not go into Syria without the approval of the Syrian government. The American congress would be upset if this was not done with there approvals. As time passes and is increasingly clear that “Osama´s hunters” do nothing against IS, will be evident to the skeptics that behind the caliphate is the hand of Israel and its allies. America must deal also with the inevitable fact that President Bashar al-Assad will win this war soon, possible as many assume that just having dealings with Iran, may be tempting some level of agreement with the Syrian government for amnesty to the mercenaries of the FSA, to retry years later a coup d’etat or win elections by a puppet

Patrick Cockburn has an interesting article, available on Liveleak, entitled: ‘West poised to join forces with Assad’. It is worth reading for this quote alone:

“Freeman [former US Ambassador to Saudi Arabia] says that he doubted that the liberal interventionists and neoconservatives who had pursued regime change in Syria were capable of reversing course. To do so would require them to admit that they bore
considerable responsibility for legitimising pointless violence that has resulted in the deaths of 190,000 Syrians.”

Moreover, Free Syrian Army’s founder Riad Asaad said in his Twitter blog yesterday that some FSA battalions wanted to re-join the ranks of the Syrian Army and fight against IS under the Syrian state banner,” Abdallah Ali told Rossiya Segodnya news agency.”

I suppose we should not be surprised. About a year ago or more, I remember reading a statement from an FSA leader attacking a faction within FSA which wanted to do a deal with Assad to unite and destroy the jihadists. I think a lot of that faction were probably killed by their own and other terrorist groups. Their initiative was premature but now the time is ripe to give up a losing strategy and join the winning team.

Cheap artillery doesn’t have the same results as lazer guided bombs. No way. Wars are won, now and in the past, by those who have the best technology (and soldiers). We are in the year 2014, not 1914.

Most other reports, including anti-Assad sources, say ISIS suffered over 200 dead. If that is true, a figure of about 500 wounded could be expected. Tabqa airbase still holding out against the Islamic State The assault of Tabqa airbase largely came as unexpected as it was thought Kweres airbase would be next on the list. The reason for focussing on Tabqa instead might have something to do with the status of this base. Strategically located, the fall of the base provides a free card for the Islamic State to expand their base of operations deeper into Syria. Although a renewed offensive on Aleppo might seem a more obvious move for the Islamic State, when captured there is nothing in between the Islamic State and Tadmor… Read more »

That is interesting. It looks as if the assault on the gas field near Palmyra was the first phase of an operation to make a rapid sweep from Raqqah to Hama and Homs. The second phase was to take out the airbase at Tabqa. ISIS was forced to retreat from both places which seems to leave their strategy in ruins. They also need to defeat the Kurds in all their northern pockets and have had very limited success there.
