Aleppo: Updated Battle Map

SAA is about half a kilometer from Aleppo Central Prison. Furthermore the army is merely a few hundred meters from Suleiman al-Halabi station which is located between Midan and Sakhur. Resecuring the water station will be vital if Aleppo is to ensure a steady flow of water inside the city.

The army is looking to connect the western and eastern front and thereby surround the terrorists in the Old City. Keep a look out for the push west in Sheikh Najjar and the SAA’s advances in Layramoun.

The day of Aleppo’s liberation is within sight.

Every time I get upbeat about the fighting, some bad news creeps in. Gen Ishaq of the SAAF has been killed at Mieiha Air Base. Ziad needs to cover the importance of this. I did not realize the terrorists were in such strength in that area.

I knew someone would say that…….but why the civilians welcomed them,to do terrorist attacks on Kessab where 80 innocent Armenian Christians were slaughtered,by terrorists coming from both Salma and Hatay Province of Turkey, and I belive that there will be some sort of Civil War in Turkey within the next few years,Due to Erdogan being more ruthless than Assad and also blocking people’s right on twitter and also a message to all SAA Supporters,King Abdullah of KSA will die by the end of this year due to Lung Cancer,so we know now who God really supports, right?

What about Salma and it’s surrounding villages(Latakia Province),if The Syrian Army manages to capture that(it’s hard due to being surrounded by Sunni villages and mountainous nature,Those Sunni civilians welcomed those traitors to make terrorist attacks on the Alawite Province,so they(civvies) need a punishment(Exile for a couple of years or any sort of Punishment,if one of them dares to insult al-Assad,then torture will do the trick),then they’ll have a chance to mount a full scale war on Idlib countryside, from Hama(South) and Latakia(West) and it’ll be a major blow-up to the terrorists on West Syria(Idlib is their only hope to win the… Read more »

Indiscriminate punishment is unjust and might create more resistance and anger. Better to punish few persons whose guilt is proven publicly, to send a message.
This is right in for western culture, in some cultures where family and tribe links are strong it is opposite.

I’ve a feeling the terrorists may launch a surprise offensive as the elections are nearing to shake people’s trust. Perhaps the ones kicked out from Homs to the northern countryside may try to re-establish their presense at Homs, the “capital of revolution”, to make it seem like Assad didn’t actually free the city. I hope all the “holes” in the Homs countryside are thoroughly blocked to stop rats coming in and out as they please. Also I hope SAA has plenty of reserves at Aleppo, since the rebels control much of the countryside. They may also strike fear by suicide… Read more »

More good news from same ‘farsnews.com source. Syria in Last 24 Hours: 360 militants in the Yarmouk camp have declared they are ready to surrender to the army and they are now negotiating with the Syrian army to lay down their weapons and hand over themselves. Also in the past 24 hours, the informed military sources disclosed that a number of foreign officers who have been training the militants in different parts of Syria have returned to their countries. According to armed rebel groups, senior military officers from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey could be seen among these foreign officers… Read more »

18 May 2014, 09:55 CIA denies its agents killed in eastern Ukraine The US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has denied reports of a number of CIA agents allegedly killed in clashes between forces loyal to the Kiev authorities and self-defense units in eastern Ukraine. Earlier, the People’s Mayor of Slavyansk, Vyacheslav Ponomaryov, announced that Kiev-controlled law troops and law enforcers had sustained heavy losses during a so-called “counterterrorist” operation in the east of the country. At least 650 servicemen were killed, wounded or taken prisoner in the past ten 10 days, he said. There are 70 foreigners among them and… Read more »

Slow, but steady, the SAA is gaining ground. Strong to see the SAA repelled a strong attack on Breij. Breij seems to be the ‘Otaiba’ of Aleppo. Can you tell us something more about the attitude of the Kurds? Would be best for Aleppo and Syria if Seikh Maqsoud is captured without one scattered and battered building (and a strong sign towards the rest of the rebels).

Also i read here that Seikh Saeed is free of terrorist is that true? And how is the situation around the Citadel (and Umyad mosque).

They didn´t really cancel it, but our government want Israel to pay the whole price, that´s all. Before Israel get the Submarines for the half price, and the other half get paid by germen taxes (cause we gased the jews in WW2). One time a whole submarine was handet to israel as a gift, the german taxpayers payd the whole price. And this submarines are able to fire atomic weapons, you just have to change some parts in the submarina and you can use them for nuclear weapons. ISIL terrorists threaten escaped terrorists from old-Homs city. Prelude to a Takfirist suicide? The cockroaches members of the terroristic gang of mercenaries who call themselves “Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant” (cover agents for wahhabi Gulf’s apes ), has issued a statement, in which they gives 72 hours to evacuate the villages of Talbisah, al-Rastan, al-Ghanto and al-Za’afaran, who have been occupied by foreign mercenaries fleeing from Homs. http://syrianfreepress.wordpress.com/2014/05/17/isil-terrorists-threaten-escaped-terrorists-from-old-homs-prelude-to-a-takfirist-suicide-it-sounds-good/

It doesn’t sound as if it couldn’t be handled. If we assume that the war can be mostly won within a year, and some sort of peace established, certain reform would be the way to go. The president probably wouldn’t mind, but some factions will have to surrender a bit to others. The situation before the war wasn’t exactly ideal, this is a perfect opportunity to re-mix it all… and come out stronger. Thinking positive of course…

All the rats combined don’t hold a lot of useful land (I colored the useless desert with sand color).

Nusra/FSA Green
SAA Pink
ISIS Purple

Also, Al-Hasakah province is pink not yellow despite the propaganda

According to cnsnews “Activists say the internal fighting killed more than 6,000 people.”

This means the JN/FSA/IslamicFront will definately withdraw their militants from the eastern fronts (Except for their stronghold Mayadeen-Al-Bu Kamal) and go back to Aleppo/Idlib.

Take down the bridge already so no more rat-mobiles can enter or escape aleppo.

Well i just thought it’s hard to attack build area in an ancient city like Aleppo. Look how long, almost 3 years of assault on Jobar and Zamalka.
While taking open ground is easy , and using military engeneering machienery to fortify it like in Adra (advantage that SAA has over terrorists) will cut supply and open opportunity for a Homs like scenario.

hmm it seems to me that incircling will be higher north , Handaral-al’layramoun line… Because there are not so many buildings there, it’s easy to take and hold. I remember how assault on Jabrood started with taking control over Rima farms around city.
Only thing to worry is supply of rats from Aleppo city, via tunnels and traitors.

the question with maintaining northern position for this encirclement is how will the SAA manage to secure its 6 o’clock with all that turkish meddling? not sure what the status quo is on that but the Syrians are surely factoring it in with their strategy.

Middle Ages in Europe – do you mean the Thirty Years’ War? The plague`s origin were some differences but reasons for bitter fight in Christianity between Katholizism and Protestantism, a bit comparable to the trouble Sunni and Shia have with each other. At least a war about the right religion: Who had the wrong one had to die. But what was the wrong and what was the right? God is always on the side of the stronger armies. Getting rid of the omni-importance of religions – that´s the plague! – in some cultures would mean peace instead of a lot… Read more »

Good one, it would actually seem to cut the rats and trap them in Aleppo center. Too bad that river is small and seems easy to cross, atleast for troops, but then again, they’re on open and easy targets for SAA artilery or snipers. Probably best move for SAA would be to capture Owaija district just south from Kindi hospital, housing doesn’t seem so dense there (there’s also many industrial facilities, quarries etc) so i guess it would be easier compared to other urban neighbourhoods … And by capturing that district rats in Aleppo center are actually encircled, unless if… Read more »
