Recep Tayyip Erdoghan crooned for an audience at Topkapi Palace – an audience so rapt in jaw-dropping wonderment there was an indescribable silence as he finished his signature anthem: “Unfathomable Dream”.
(Sung to the tune of “Impossible Dream” from the Man of LaMancha)
To dream the unfathomable dream,
To fight a disingenuous foe,
To stare with indescribable stupor,
To run where the kaffir can’t go.
To wrong the infidel’s song,
To hate with detestable snarls,
To pray five times on the Bospo,
To destroy the Irishman’s bars!
This is my fate, to bark at the moon,
No matter how lambent, I’m everyone’s loon,
To fight the Shi’ite, without logic or sense,
To be ready to march into Hell ‘cause I am so bloody dense.
And I know since I’m only untrue, to an American gent,
That my soul will be roasting in fire
When he’s fasting for Lent.
And Yerevan will be better for me,
‘Cause the man who ostracized blasphemy
Still tried with a push and a snort
To build………… the Sub-li-mi-nal Porte!*
