SECOND POST – JANUARY 2, 2013 – THE PROXY PRESIDENT; OBAMA OUTSOURCES THE WHITE HOUSE

SECOND POST – JANUARY 2, 2013 – THE PROXY PRESIDENT; OBAMA OUTSOURCES THE WHITE HOUSE

                                  COMMENTARY FROM SYRIAN PERSPECTIVE

I was interviewed by Muhammad Sha’ban last week in Tehran for his Arabic-language radio show.  He asked me a question about America’s commitment to the terrorist war in Syria and I responded,  with no small measure of influence from Thierry Meyssan’s article in Voltairenet, that the U.S. was “backing off on the Middle East”.  I suggested that Obama was “disengaging” the W.H. from all things Islamic.

Obama’s own involvement in two theatres of conflict, Libya and Palestine, act as signposts for an evolving quasi-isolationism: the U.S. will act only if there are critical threats to homeland security;  the U.S will act only if non-threats are handled primarily by allies.

Note, the Libyan disaster, (tarted up as some kind of triumph of progress and liberalism), was largely engineered by Britain and France with the U.S. playing a “tough brother” role in the parking lot to make sure the allies won.  But the tough brother, who monitors the rumble,  will only jump in when the outcome appears to favor the bad guys (read: Qaddafi).

And so, in Palestine, Obama has constringed like a clam, evading any responsibility for the ascendant tones of his early speeches, the high falutin’ expressions of confidence and trust, the guileful focus on results which made so many guileless Palestinians hopeful that “change” might be coming.  Palestinians were reading tea leaves to see what the new president might be up to given his “revolutionary credentials”, friendships with “Palestinian intellectuals and academics’, his clear connection to Fanonism – a Kenyan revolutionary father – a lily-white mother suckled on anti-colonialism so much, she deliberately searched out men of color for marriage and procreation.

So much for that.  Obama anted up for Libya by convincing American xenophobes and eremiticists that their country, while supporting democracy and modernism in Libya, would not fall into any new traps coming on the heel of America’s historically greatest political and military blunder in Iraq.  The assessment on Afghanistan is still awaiting that one trenchant, lambasting essay from Arnold Toynbee’s tomb.  He wallowed in outsourcing the act of overthrowing a sitting leader of a member state of the U.N. and then, sneakily, leaked out snippets of news which showcased America’s involvement behind the scenes; a scenario in which people might imagine his hands on the strings of a great victory, all the while enrobed in false modesty.

“Shshshshshhhhhhh!  Don’t tell anyone I won the war in Libya.  I’m the tough big brother who’s watching out for all of you.”

Even Obama’s oh-so-very touchy relationship with Russian Zionist settler Mileikowski, (a/k/a Netanyahu) is fraught with considerations so delicate, he has to outsource the stress to Chuck Hagel, his nominee for Secretary of Defense and future lighting-rod.  As you all know, Hagel is not Mileikowski’s favorite American politician.  But, that’s not the point.  You see, Obama, senses he’s a black man in a white world with whites trying to do him in.  To push a policy through, he needs both a “buffer” and “credible deniability”.  Aloofness is his patented way of dealing with the world of cunning and malice.

Let’s look at Syria.  Obama would love to unseat Dr. Assad to dispel the Iranian ghost.  But given his own cautious public commitment to that cause, as misguided as it is, he cleaves to a history of “giving non-lethal assistance” to the “rebels” even though astute observers might detect some disingenuousness in his proclamations seeing that “night-vision equipment”, “advanced communications gear”, “logistics support”, all result in enhancing the terrorists’ ability to bring death and destruction to Syria.  Even more damning is his looking away while America’s reactionary `banana kingdoms”, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, all send “lethal” weapons to the terrorists with the confidence that only comes when the U.S. has its fleet in the Gulf to protect their ability to spread horror in that secular republic.  But even more damning, is his quiet, almost insidious posting of CIA and Special Ops personnel in Jordan and Turkey.

Obama says Americans are in Jordan to help with the refugee situation.  That’s just not true.  Evidence is mounting that U.S. personnel is vetting and training Syrians to fight in their homeland.  Evidence is overwhelming that the U.S. is deeply involved in directing killers out of Turkey.  Even the NYT has disclosed this embarrassing fact.   Sure, Obama can do this, because the Brits have a large contingent of MI6 and SAS operatives at Incirlik and Adana.  The Germans have an electronic monitoring Spyboat off the coast of Turkey.  It’s almost like Libya, isn’t it.  If things get embarrassing, Obama can slink away like so much slime.  If it goes well, (and it’s not!), he can blame his proxies.

Obama is born for mediocrity.  He can’t look an opponent in the eye.  He’s the shadowy figure who snitches, squeals, enables and watches, all right next to the bus stop which will ferry him away from all the fighting and ugliness he promoted himself.

The only problem with discussing the positions of different countries in the war is that we are, in many ways, in the post-nation era. Thus, it is more a question of Western oil companies and the Zionist lobby on one side, and a more rational side on the other, as far as Western Imperialism goes. Many joke that Qatar is simply a branch of Standard Oil. After all, if most of their money is in a Rockefeller bank in New York, how independent are they really? From this perspective, Obama is simply trying to be cunning or clever, and not… Read more »

I am not convinced that the Oil companies and Zionist are on the same side. Major oil companies are controlled by WASP not Zionist. Have you noticed recently many of the younger members of “The Tribe” have been marrying Chinese women? As the USA is going to the the bottom are these leeches now trying to get into China and bleed them dry? These whole destruction of Syria was meant to have finished in October last year. They have failed hence the panic we are now on the road to the age of Aquarius. Some good news Commandente Chavez appears… Read more »
